Modular I/O-System
Modular I/O-System
The ideal solution for every customer
The increasing level of automation in machines and systems and the consequent rise in the number of I/O devices have in turn increased the amount of wiring required. Lenzes distributed I/O systems with IP 20 protection bring order to this chaos. They are flexible systems, customised for individual applications, which provide functions for implementing all types of applications.
Lenzes offer comprises two product concepts:
- A compact system for basic digital applications
- A modular system for more complex automation tasks
Benefits for customers
- Maximum reliability
Lenze is your single source for automation needs. A tailor-made system with common software for all components along with proven preconfigured software solutions reduces the time spent in planning phases - the value of such savings cannot be over-estimated. - Optimising the use of space
The compact dimensions will enable you to save space in your control cabinet. The 1 or 3-wire design can also be extended as required and is supplied with a fixed number of channels as standard. This means that you are free to choose which product to use to solve your application. - Reducing training needs
Because the modules in both concepts are operated in exactly the same way, they can be combined easily. Both concepts share the same bus, field wiring and power supply connection technology for commissioning purposes - this saves time.
- Ease of replacement
Replacing the electronics module takes just three steps. The terminal strip ensures that the field wiring remains in place. Simply remove the terminal strip, replace the electronics module, and replace the terminal strip - done.
The modular system has been designed for use in more complex automation applications. It offers a complete range of I/O devices comprising three components: a gateway, an electronics module and a rear panel bus.
The key element of the range is a gateway, via which all data traffic is processed on the Lenze system bus. An internal rear panel bus is used for the intra-station communication of process and parameter data, as well as diagnostic data.
The electronics modules are isolated and manage the actual I/O functions. Up to 32 units can be combined as required to form an overall station in which each module is optimised for the individual application in which it is to be used.
Ease of application
- Configuration
A tailor-made system with commonsoftware for all components along with proven preconfigured software solutions will provide you with maximum reliability. The Global Drive Control V4.4 and the update to the IP 20 I/O system device file (which can be found in our Download area) offer the same type of configuration support for the Lenze I/O system as they do for Lenze controllers. - Programming
Our DDS V1.4 software development environment and the update to the LenzeIOsystem.lib library (which can be found in our Download area) offer the ideal basis for easy operation of the new I/O system with our Drive PLC.I/O system IP20
