Drive Server

LenS7

"Software bus"

The connection to your application software is created by the OPC DriveServer. It forms the basis for the communication link for the individual tools. Each application supported by the OPC interface can therefore access all drive functions. The DriveServer creates a layer between the application program and the communication channel. The bus servers encapsulate the fieldbus specifics, whilst the DriveServer has device knowledge. This means that the DriveServer is both an OPC server and a client.

Thanks to the open architecture, bus servers from third-party manufacturers, such as ifak system, Softing, etc. can also be used.

Please visit our website for up-to-date inforamtion about availability.
Bus servers currently available from Lenze:

  • Lenze LECOM A/B/LI
  • (R232, RS485, optical fibres)
  • Lenze system bus (system bus adapter, CANOpen)
  • Lenze S7-MPI (Siemens interface module in the PC)
  • Lenze S7-TCP (Siemens interface module in S7, standard interface module in the PC)*

The path to open automation

Are you looking for a simple communication method between drives via different bus systems with additional automation software? Then use the OPC interface standard (OLE for Process Control), defined by Microsoft and other leading manufacturers of automation components. The Lenze DriveServer is based on this world-wide standard and adds its own special features for drive engineering. Decentralised solutions are the latest trend in automation. Intelligent drives can manage increasing numbers of control tasks.

The DriveServer offers the following functions::

  • Standardised, easy access to device parameters; direct name access
  • Use of different fieldbus systems with unmodified user interface
  • Easy access to lower-level sub-systems*
  • Parameter set transfer
  • Program download*

Your options:

  • Availability of the named functions in local networks
  • Remote diagnostics
  • Integration of drive units in a standard run-time environment (e.g. visualisation)
  • Integration of drive units in in-house applications
